What is Climate Change?
This article focuses on the impact of climate change on existing problems such as flooding in Pakistan and heatwaves in Europe
Climate change is a phenomenon where the temperature of Earth's atmosphere increases significantly. The average temperature of the surface air has increased by about 1 degree Celsius since pre-industrial times. This change can be attributed to greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane, which trap heat near the Earth's surface.
Definition of Floods:
Floods are among the most devastating natural disasters that can befall humans. Floods can affect large portions of a country at once and cause destruction and death to thousands of people. During floods, people are forced to live in shelters until they can return home or rebuild their homes after the flood waters subside.
Defining heat waves:
A heat wave is a period of excessively hot weather, which may be accompanied by high humidity, especially in oceanic climate countries and can be referred as an extreme weather condition. Heat wave also has some of its dangerous health effects. Yes, global warming has established a hotter baseline for summer temperatures, which dramatically increases the odds of more frequent, more extreme, and longer-lasting heat waves, as study after study after study has clearly shown.
The European heatwave has caused millions of people to suffer from dehydration and heat strokes. The European Heatwave of 2003 was one of the worst natural disasters in recent history. It affected over 30 countries across Europe, and killed an estimated 70,000 people.
The European heatwave was caused by a blocking high pressure system over northern Europe, which trapped hot air from the Sahara desert in northern Africa. This caused an extremely warm temperature to move through central Europe with little wind or precipitation. The temperatures reached 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit), and even higher in some areas.
In Austria, for example, temperatures rose above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) for four consecutive days during this period. In Hungary, temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius for six consecutive days. In Italy, temperatures reached over 40 degrees Celsius for eight consecutive days in August since 1960 when this occurred (the other being 1983).
The effects of this disaster were felt throughout Europe as factories closed down because of poor air quality or workers were sent home early due to illness or exhaustion due to high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere caused by automobile exhaust fumes mixed with sunlight reflected off white roads.
In Pakistan, the floods that have inundated large areas of the country have been devastating. The damage done by these floods is estimated at $6 billion and has caused over 2,000 deaths. This article will provide a detailed analysis of how these events have affected Pakistan's economy as well as its citizens.
The Economy
Before the floods, Pakistan's economy was growing at an annual rate of 7% in real terms (adjusted for inflation). However, this number has dropped to 0.2% since then due to the negative impact of the floods on agriculture, which accounts for more than half of Pakistan's GDP (Gross Domestic Product). In addition to agricultural production, there are many other sectors that have been affected by the disaster: tourism, transport infrastructure and supply chains, manufacturing industry, energy generation/distribution etc. The Citizens:
The floods in Pakistan have affected millions of people and destroyed their homes. The government has responded quickly with aid and rescue efforts, but many are still without shelter and clean water.
The situation is dire for many people who have lost everything, but the need for immediate assistance and recovery is even greater for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. In addition to providing aid, the government must also provide long-term support for rebuilding efforts.
The most pressing issue facing post-flood Pakistanis is housing. Because of the devastation caused by the flooding, many families are forced to sleep outdoors in tents or other crude shelters. Families are also struggling with food shortages as they try to replace lost crops or livestock with what they can find on sale at reduced prices or in charity bins.
A second major problem is access to clean water, which is critical for both personal hygiene and sanitation purposes due to the lack of running water systems in many parts of Pakistan. People must travel long distances each day just to find raw drinking water that is safe enough for consumption by human beings.
Therefore, it is decided by the government of Pakistan to start flood relief campaigns. They have started to gather money and other rescue items which are necessary for survival. I request you all to donate some amount of your income or give any of the following items to charity organizations online like Alkhidmat foundation and Zamzam foundation etc. The items are as follows:
Food items, tents, torches, sanitary and hygiene items, towels, clothes, shoes, bags, toothbrush, mosquito repellents, water bottles, medicines for treatment of different diseases as well as carpets and small burners.
Let's pray for the betterment of these flood victims and contribute our part in helping these people living in poor conditions. Don't forget to leave a nice comment below this article if it looked persuasive to you.
Thank You
